Mac OS X For PC

OSx86.jpgthis isnt finance related, but i just learned a few days ago that Apples (AAPL) Tiger OSX operating system has been modified (by smart hackers) to run on PCs. the cheapest option to run apple's popular OS used to be the $500 Mac Mini, but now you can buy a PC (which costs way cheaper than a mac), and run Tiger OSX on it.

the only downside right now is that only newer processors (eg, AMD64) which support SSE3 processor instructions can support certain capabilities like itunes or dvd playing. however, chips that support SSE2 capabilities will work for mostly everything.

if i have more free time in the coming weeks, i'll probably buy a spare USB harddrive to try it out. if it works alright, i might even buy a cheap PC and run it on that.

its probably illegal to install, and its definitely illegal to download the image file of the OS, so i'll just add some links where you can continue to learn more about OSx86.

have fun, and let me know how it goes if you try it out. i wonder how AAPL is going to respond to this…
