Trading & Gambling

A lot of people who aren't in "the know" regard trading as simply another form of gambling, where your bankroll is at the mercy of lady luck.

I don't like this perception, and here is a good article that discusses it.

I always tell em that gambling is when the odds are against you and there aint jack you can do about it.

In the market, on the other hand, you can manipulate information to your advantage to beat the house.

When you drop a quarter in a slot machine, you’re “hoping.” Hope and gambling are synonomous.

when you buy a stock, hope is OUT of the equation.

investing is something sublime. nothing beats the market. not sex. not poker. nada — I promise you.
