Series of Fortunate Events

A couple weeks ago, I pulled into a parking lot with parking meters. It was raining hard, and as I pulled in, someone kept flashing their high beams at me. I parked at the closest empty meter and suddenly the guy pulled up next to me, got out, and knocked at my window (it was raining hard too). I was like WTF. This is Berkeley, so I thought the guy was gonna ask me for money or something. But instead, it turned out to be an old man who wanted me to take his parking space! He explained that he was about to leave, but that he still had a few hours on his meter, so he wanted to let me have his spot. It was raining and yet he went through all that trouble to do something nice for a total stranger!

Also, on Wednesday, I was supposed to take a quiz for my cell bio class. I pulled an all nighter the night before, and I went to class, only to see the TA handing back quizzes. It turned out that the quiz was LAST Wednesday (I missed class the week before b/c of an emergency). Still, the TA was really really nice and let me make up the quiz in someone elses section. I totally didn’t expect her to be so nice, because fortunate stuff like this rarely happens to me.

I don’t know why I’m writing this post… maybe because it beats studying for finals, but I just wanted to share these stories. From these experiences and a few others, I’ve been inspired to try to spread good karma whenever I can.
