Tech Rumor Mill

There is also evidence that GOOG is preparing to launch Google Accounts (poised to become GOOG's version of PayPal). EBAY better watch out for this one, because PayPal's domination in online money transactions is about to come to an end. A lot of people (me included) HATE PayPal because of their ridiculously high transaction fees for merchant accounts, and would enthusiastically welcome an alternative.

Rumors are buzzing that AAPL will be showcasing a Video iPod tomorrow. I think the idea of a video iPod is really lame, though. I don't even think the photo feature of the iPod is worth talking about. Plus, watching movies with headphones on a 2 inch screen doesn't really sound that cool. Plus, its just not practical. Nevertheless, a lot of rich and brainwashed AAPL fanatics will still buy it, if indeed it is released tomorrow.

On a related note, AAPL tanked today after hours even though they beat EPS estimates. The market doesnt like the fact that they sold a million fewer iPods than estimated this quarter because it shows signs that their growth is slowing. A similar situation happened with EBAY stock a long time ago.

Lower iPod demand means lower flash sales… ie.. bad for SNDK… they have soared in recent weeks (also tied to an upgrade in LEXR), and will likely have a retraction in the near fucture.. today was a nice pullback, but earnings are the 20th, which they could easilt beat, but i don’t know how the market will respond considering how much AAPL fell today…but after the 20th if it’s still near where it is today.. i will be short once again
